Kota Tinggi Firefly Park is an exciting trip down memory lane for those of us who grew up in rural areas and a fresh experience for those folks from urban areas. Kids will definitely enjoy the view and sighting of fireflies and other wild animals (depending on your luck).

Here are some tips, if you are planning a visit to the park. Plan your visit during new moon as the darkness will offer better sighting of the fireflies. The boat is very stable, pretty much a barge with an engine. So, you don't have to worry about motion sickness or rocking of the boat.

The staffs are also very helpful. We had the fortunate help from Michelle, the receptionist, when we almost missed the ride. Please call and ask for advise if you are stuck in traffic while heading to the park or try to get there earlier than your timeslot. Besides the main highlight of the evening, we were also entertained by the stand-up comedy routine from June, the tour guide, on the boat.

Overall, it made our visit to the Kota Tinggi Firefly Park a very exciting and enjoyable one.

We had an absolutely seamless and enjoyable experience! From checking in to the boat ride, everything went smoothly. Our knowledgeable guide expertly shared insights about the fireflies in multiple languages, ensuring everyone was engaged. After witnessing the mesmerizing fireflies, our guide went the extra mile to locate monitor lizards, making the tour even more fascinating. Highly recommended! We happened to see the full moon too! Just be prepared for the aggressive mosquitoes – don't forget to pack plenty of insect repellent!

Recommended to buy the ticket in advance through whatsapp if you want to catch the first boat.
It is a good experience for all ages, but kids enjoy the most.
The place is easily accessible by Grab if you aren't driving.
There is a gift shop selling quite a number of souvenirs, soft drinks and you can buy fireworks there also.

Once back at the reception, we were able to purchase lanterns, write our wishes on them, and release them into the sky—a beautiful and unforgettable part of the experience. This activity is perfect for families, especially with kids, or even for a romantic evening. The staff ensures that safety is a priority, while still making the experience both fun and educational.

A huge thank you to our guide, June, who shared so many fascinating details about fireflies in multiple languages, ensuring everyone had a great understanding of the experience. She even pointed out wildlife like monitor lizards and an owl—such a nice touch! We also want to thank Michele and Marco for guiding us through the lantern ceremony. Setting the lanterns off into the sky with them was a truly memorable moment.
